In 2020 I completed B1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, with each sublevel of B1 taking 10 weeks to complete. So now it's 2021, which by my calculations gives me just this year and next (and I think a weeny bit of 2023) to complete my award. I'm nowhere near my initial goal of C2, which would be three years away given this rate of learning. A part of me wanted to write this entry to ask you all if it would be acceptable to count 30 weeks of German as sufficient for this challenge, since the clause actually only called for 3 months. However, upon reading my own award action plan, past Karen said that in completing this challenge I would learn to “persist at learning something over a long period of time”. My intention is therefore to continue to learn German for the duration of this award, and at the end record the 10-minute conversation that I had wanted to deliver. I have discovered that I am able to carry a half decent conversation already without constantly consulting a dictionary (albeit with much uhming), which was ultimately my reason for aiming for C2.

At the moment I’m trying to get myself into the next class, B1.4. I missed the boat for Sydney’s class; I had decided against it because of multiple schedule clashes. Little did I know that that would be the only B1.4 running this year online! I've now contacted Goethe Institut Melbourne to see if I can jump in on their B1.4, which started a little bit later than the Sydney one. My alternative plan, if I'm not able to join, is too continue working with worksheets, podcasts, and vocabulary trainers and attempt to take the B1 exam without B1.4. If I am successful, then I suppose I will continue on to B2!
