Adventure 1
For my Adventure Challenge 1 I will:
2.2.3. Take part in one of the many opportunities offered to experience international Girl Guiding / Girl Scouting. This may include attending seminars, participating in international service projects, participating in an international camp or visiting/volunteering at a World Centre. On your return pass on what you have learned/discovered/experienced in an interesting way to the wider Guiding community. Be sure to evaluate your experience.
I will attend the 2017 Helen Storrow Seminar. Upon my return I will be presenting to my home District, creating a resource for the Region, and running a National project.
This will be cross credited as a Residential Project in my Gold Duke of Ed.
This is a challenge for me because:
I will not know anyone at the seminar and this will be my first international event, so I will be challenging myself to make new friends. I typically find it a little trickier making friends through Guiding and not through music, which is where most of my social circles are.
I am usually not particularly confident in doing presentations, so it will be a challenge doing the District presentation. The National project will also require a great deal of organisation and planning.
In completing this challenge, I hope to (achieve, learn, develop, etc):
Learn more about Guiding in other parts of the world.
Develop my environmental leadership and project management skills.
Develop my networking and social skills, and learn how to interact and work co-operatively with people of different backgrounds.
Make a difference in the Guiding Community and its relationship with the Environment
Develop my presentation skills.
The timeline for this challenge will be:
Attend seminar March 2017
Project planned by the end of 2017
Project carried out by the end of 2018
