I started Duolingo at the end of 2016, looking to brush up on the German that I had learnt at school. My short term memory is quite good, so I flew through most of the modules, but I'd forget things pretty quickly. Duo's daily goal/streak system really helped me to keep practicing all the modules even after I had finished them. Before, I felt like the only words I knew were the ones that I had learnt in year 10, but now I am starting to realise that I know words for things that I know I have learnt only through Duolingo.

Having David learning alongside me has also helped keep me motivated, and our conversations are now littered with basic German. I found the speaking exercises in Duolingo to be quite inaccurate so it's been much more helpful actually speaking to someone.
