On the 9th October, I was finally able to get together a group to go down and play some music at Birds of Passage. We played as the team prepped and served food.
It was a pretty rough session as none of us had even played together as a trio before, but we had a lot of fun and we got some good reception from some of the people that came for food. A lot of them came and sat near us to listen, and I even got to speak to a couple of people. One told me how he had taught himself the piano, and how there was apparently a piano on the sidewalk somewhere in the city (should investigate). Another came and asked us to play Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik! We didn't have it on us but played a snippet from memory, and that seemed to make him happy. Those two men made me really happy as we were able to share in a common interest, and I hope I can replicate that experience with other people in my future activities with this challenge (and the further challenge). The senior volunteer, Aline, came up to me afterwards and told us people were smiling as they waited in line, so that was really cool to hear. Will definitely be back in the future, and I know Caitlin and David would be happy to return also.
As an aside, the chair issue was solved this time by sitting on a plastic bag (the local birds were very fond of the bricks lining the garden beds). In the future and for more "concerty" concerts, we would need to provide chairs.
