Christmas Music 2017

With Christmas coming up I thought it would be a good time to start offering musical services to the places I could potentially partner with in future.
For the last Bird of Passage "Food Run" before Christmas I got together a group of musicians I knew from the Con-based composer-performer collective "Konzertprojekt", and we sight-read some carols as the food was served. We had two flutes (I played flute that day), viola and cajon.

I also managed to make contact with the Salvos, and we helped them out by being buskers for a collection point. I got two groups together that day, a flute/violin/cello trio with Naomi and Noam, and then Quart-Ed, my string quartet. The person who looked after us that day mentioned that the Salvos in the city do Wednesday dinner-and-service, and that maybe I could offer to provide music instead of a service one week.

Another connection I managed to make that Christmas was with the Coptic Church, who do food runs at the same place as Birds of Passage on a different day. One of the Coptic Church volunteers had heard us at Birds and has invited us to come along. I managed to get another group together and we played some classical repertoire out of what we call "gig books" (fairly easy music that is generally used for background music gigs). The lady told us that the Coptic Church did trash and treasure nights on Tuesdays and seemed open to the idea of having some music at one of them.
