Climate Change Video

I am a trained facilitator of an environmental leadership program developed by OzGREEN, "Youth Leading the World". This year, I was asked to step in to help with a YLTW congress in North Sydney, and during a facilitator's meeting, Alex, one of the other facilitators, took us through this year's "Pulse of the Planet", an annually updated presentation about our current environmental situation. It reminded me a little bit of a group discussion we had had at Helen Storrow about climate change, and how we had all felt like the discussion had helped us experience the global-ness of climate change in a meaningful way. So I told my team about this experience, and offered to contact the HSS crew and put together a montage of climate change experiences across the globe.
I spent the next half a week hounding the HSS girls about sending me a video, and what I ended up with was far more amazing than I expected - I got a variety of responses from all the continents, and knit together it really painted a big picture in a meaningful and very human way. A couple of the girls actually did their presentations in uniform, so besides sharing it with the North Sydney congress and the OzGREEN facilitators' page, I decided to go and contact as many Guiding groups as possible about the video. I figured it would be of interest to them because it could be used to promote the Helen Storrow Seminar, or WAGGGS events as a way to create lasting connections, Our Chalet, and most importantly could be an environmental education piece at the same time. I also felt that international collaboration was also an important message to promote especially for environmental change. Not only that, it was so lovely to see everyone's faces again - when I showed it to the HSS girls, they all had the same reaction.
I posted the video on "Girl Guide Program Ideas", "HSS 2017" and "Northern Sydney Region GG", and then connected with Ruth Stone from WAGGGS who I had met at the congress, Charlie from GGA publicity, Alice Mee, the Region Manager, and I sent Facebook messages to the Our Chalet and Girl Guides NSW & ACT pages.
I got a really great response, and was shared by:
